Temple Stay Tsushima Seizanji
One of the most atmospheric places to stay in Tsushima Ryokan Recommendation
Hi everyone,
this time I stayed at an absolutely gorgeous Izuhara ryokan,
Temple Stay Tsushima Seizanji, and I loved it.
Thanks to my friend who picked such a great place, this trip ended up being incredibly relaxing.

Seriously, this place is one of the best stays I’ve had.
The most surprising part? It was only about $72 for two people.
I put together the booking links and site-specific coupons at the very bottom,
so compare them and book whichever works best for you.
It’s only about a 5- to 7-minute walk from downtown Izuhara, so the location is super convenient,
but because they only host seven groups per day,
it stays wonderfully quiet and peaceful,
the kind of place where you can genuinely unwind..
If you’re looking for a tatami ryokan in Izuhara, this is honestly a perfect pick.

It’s a traditional temple stay that gives you a real Japanese-style lodging experience, and
you get to enjoy a calm setting surrounded by nature,
making it ideal for travelers who want a little inner peace through meditation and quiet reflection. It really is
such a great match for that kind of trip.

It’s beautiful during the day,

and just as lovely at night.

When you arrive, if no one is at the front,
just ring the bell and they’ll come help you check in.
Check-in is at 3:00 p.m.,
and check-out is at 10:00 a.m.

There were lots of spots where we could just sit and take in the scenery,
and because the property is surrounded by thick forest and mountains,
you can really appreciate how beautiful the landscape must be in every season.

We booked Room 202,
which is a Japanese-style room. I heard the room name means hydrangea.
The price was around $72 for two people for one night,
and for this level of quality, it honestly felt like a steal.
We booked about three to four weeks in advance and barely managed to get a room.
We had originally planned to stay at Mansonggak, but it was unavailable because of a package booking.
Honestly, that worked out even better for us.

The second we walked in, we both gasped.
It was that nice.
The soft mattress and bedding laid out over the tatami
plus the strong air conditioning

made it ridiculously comfortable. I slept so well.

Room 201 next door is a pure tatami room without a mattress,
so keep that in mind if you’re comparing room types.

Inside the closet, there were fluffy towels
and yukata robes ready for us.
They also provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, two bottles of water, and an electric kettle, so no need to worry about the basics.
Room cleaning seems to start around 10 a.m.,
and it looked like they continued until around 11 or 12.
Unless you specifically tell them not to clean,
it seems they take care of everything. If you decline, they’ll leave fresh towels outside your door.
They replaced both the yukata and towels,
and restocked the amenities too.

The shared kitchen has a sink, microwave, and refrigerator,
and even the fridge shelves are labeled by room number.

The bathrooms are in the hallway and assigned so each room has its own one to use,
and they were clean and had bidet toilets.

The women’s bath and men’s bath are separate shared bathing areas,
and these were spotless too.
Just note that the bath has set operating hours.

This is what the indoor bath area looks like.
I love ending the day with a bath every evening,
and you can tell the whole place is maintained with real care.
In the morning, only showers are available.
Yukata experience

Yes, you can even enjoy a yukata experience here.
The yukata is loose and comfy, almost like sleepwear,so it’s easy to wear to bed too.
Since it’s designed to work for both men and women, the fit is pretty roomy.
Nearby supermarket and conveniences

There’s Izuhara Tiara Mall about a 7-minute walk away,
so you can easily pick up snacks and groceries from the food hall.

We grabbed pudding, dango, and cream puffs,
plus sushi, Horoyoi, cup noodles, and drinks,
and loaded up on everything.

It all tasted so good and made the night even better.
Breakfast

If you add breakfast, the total comes to around $94 for two people,
and I’ve heard it’s really good.
We skipped it because we thought we’d be too full,
but if you want to add breakfast, make sure to ask early.

One thing I loved about downtown Tsushima was how many cats were around.
If you call out to them, some of them actually come running over meowing.
Way too cute.

Anyway, this stay alone
made the whole trip feel deeply restful.
If you’re looking for Tsushima accommodation, I absolutely recommend Temple Stay Tsushima Seizanji.
