Where to Stay Near La Jolla Cove in San Diego, California, USA
Hi, and welcome to my La Jolla hotel review!
I’m Traveling Gomyammi, a travel blogger exploring the world.Happy to have you here!
Planning a trip to Los Angeles and San Diego, California?
If you’re looking for a hotel around La Jolla Cove, this one is worth a look!

With sunny weather and sparkling ocean views,
San Diego is the kind of coastal city where you can really slow down.
La Jolla is especially famous for its gorgeous coastline, seals, and sea lions.
If that’s the area you want to explore, here’s a hotel to consider.
Let me introduce Hyatt Regency La Jolla! It’s my pick for this stay.
Its full name is Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine.

Think palm trees by day and stars overhead at night.
La Jolla Cove is about a 10-minute drive away,
so you can easily head out to see the seals.

This hotel in San Diego, California, USA,
is Hyatt Regency La Jolla, and here’s a closer look at what it offers.

Want to take in San Diego’s ocean views,
go shopping, watch the seals, and still have time to relax at your hotel?
This could be a great fit.

You’ll find it in the La Jolla area of northern San Diego.
If La Jolla Cove or Birch Aquarium is on your itinerary,it’s a convenient base.
It works well for a family vacation, too.
With UC San Diego nearby,
it’s also worth considering for a campus visit or business trip.
When comparing it with downtown hotels, look at the room rate and parking charges
together to get the full cost of your stay.
Downtown parking can get pretty expensive.
Self-parking at Hyatt Regency La Jolla is reportedly $39 per day,
with in-and-out privileges.
Downtown hotel parking typically runs around $65–$75 per day.

If you have a rental car, you can still drive downtown to explore!

“Embracing Peace.”

La Jolla’s shoreline is known as the jewel of San Diego, and it’s easy to see why.
It’s such a beautiful stretch of coast
that I’d absolutely recommend a visit.
You’ll spot pelicans and seals, too.
I’d suggest staying in San Diego for a night or two so you have time to unwind.
Plenty of visitors come on tours from Los Angeles, though.
With mild weather year-round and a beautiful coastline,
La Jolla is also one of the most sought-after places to live on the U.S. West Coast.
If you’d like to spend a little time in the area, this hotel is a solid option.
Hyatt Regency La Jolla is close to UC San Diego
and the Westfield UTC shopping mall.
They’re about a five-minute drive away!
UCSD—the University of California, San Diego
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay near the university,
planning to explore La Jolla,
or adding shopping and dining at Westfield UTC to your itinerary,
this location is worth keeping on your shortlist.
From San Diego International Airport,
the drive takes around 30 minutes.
Rather than a regular taxi, I’d recommend
checking Uber for a cheaper ride.

Check-in: 4:00 p.m.
Check-out: 11:00 a.m.

You can find nightly rates as low as $164!
The usual quoted range is $30–$298.
If you can book it for around $164,
a Hyatt hotel with a heated outdoor pool makes an appealing stop on a Los Angeles–San Diego trip. That combination
is definitely worth a closer look!
Myrealtrip seemed noticeably cheaper than the other booking sites,
so that’s the option I’m sharing here.
From what I’ve seen, Hyatt Regency propertiesseem to have particularly good rates on Myrealtrip.

The San Diego hotel mentioned here as a Mission Valley option also seemed cheaper than on other partner booking sites, with differences of roughly $5–$75! |
Right in central La Jolla,
Inn By The Sea La Jolla is another popular choice.
Still, there’s something reassuring about choosing a four-star Hyatt!
La Jolla Hotel Rooms: A Look Inside

The rooms feel genuinely spacious
and refreshingly clean.
It’s a solid business-hotel option for the San Diego portion of a Los Angeles trip.
The airport isn’t too far away, either.

Here’s a look at the bathroom and shower.
Simple, tidy, and perfectly practical.

This is what the hotel lobby and dining areas look like.
You can see why it would work well for corporate meetings and events.
It has that full-service business-hotel feel.
Breakfast comes in generous à la carte options,
and I’m told there’s a buffet on weekends, too.
Hyatt Regency La Jolla Amenities

There’s a Starbucks on the ground floor.
Expect a tip prompt with each order,
so I’d order everything you want in one go!
DRIFT eat + drinkserves meals and cocktails.
Shoris where you can have breakfast.
On the lobby level, Market La Jolla is another convenient stop
for coffee, light breakfast options, and sandwiches
to grab and go.

There’s a heated outdoor pool and a hot tub.
Take a dip after a day of sightseeing,
or settle onto the sun deck for some downtime.

Head outside and to the right on the ground floor,
and you’ll also find the 24-hour StayFit fitness center.
There are tennis courts, table tennis, and pickleball courts, too.

With all those activities, it’s easy to see why
this San Diego hotel is recommended for families.
There’s plenty to keep everyone busy.
