Hilton Rome Airport at FCO

My stay at a Rome airport hotel just 5 minutes from the terminal
For a work trip, I stayed at a hotel directly connected to Rome Fiumicino Airport
literally a 5-minute walk away.
It was the 4-star Hilton Rome Airport at FCO, and I gave it a try.
There’s basically nothing around here besides the airport,
so it’s a great option if you have a very early flight, a late arrival, or a long layover.
That’s exactly the kind of stay this place is best for.
From Roma Termini, it takes about 50 minutes by bus,
or around 30 minutes on the Leonardo Express
to reach the airport.
I paid 491 euros for two nights, which is about $562,
so the nightly rate came out to roughly $246–$288 per night.
I booked here because this was the cheapest option I found.
I checked Yeogi Eottae and Trip.com too, but Agoda was the only place that had it.
The biggest strength of this hotel is how comfortable the room is—
it’s really set up for you to rest well and recharge.
This is what the hotel looks like from the outside (doesn’t it kind of look like a hospital?).
I stayed on the first floor by European standards
and the room felt very spacious and comfortable.
I also noticed flight attendants from different airlines staying here too.
Let me show you what it was like.
Oh, and there’s also a beach town near Fiumicino
that you can reach in about 10 minutes by taxi for around 25 euros,
so if you want to see the Mediterranean, it could be worth the trip.
I ended up staying in because there was thunder and lightning that day.
If you follow the second-floor walkway to Hilton Rome Airport,
the hotel is directly connected to the terminal,
which honestly makes it one of the best Rome airport hotel options.
Check-in is at 3:00 PM
and check-out is at 12:00 PM, so keep that in mind if you’re planning your stay.
That said, it still takes about 40 minutes to an hour to get to Roma Termini,
so I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if your main goal is sightseeing in Rome or traveling around Italy.
How to get there
Here’s how to find the hotel.
Just follow the signs with the little hotel bed icon,
keep walking, and eventually you’ll see an elevator.
Go down to the first floor and walk in from there.
There may be a moment when you wonder, “Am I really going the right way to the hotel?”
Yes—you are.
Three staff members were working at check-in,
and one of the male staff was so handsome I genuinely thought it was a waste of talent.
I checked in with a female staff member, and she wasn’t especially warm,
though that may just have been the Italian tone—she did speak English.
It is a 4-star hotel,
but don’t come expecting a lot of extra infrastructure or resort-style facilities.
This is more or less the overall style of the place.
The hotel itself is pretty simple.
There were four elevators, which made getting around easy,
and aside from check-in, the servers and other staff were all kind and helpful.
I stayed in room 1065 on the first floor.
So yes, I gave up on having any kind of view.
There really wasn’t much to look at outside.
Still, the bed was genuinely huge, and because I’d seen a lot of reviews saying it was dirty,
I was worried—but my room was clean and I rested comfortably.
Just note that there are no bedroom slippers or bathroom slippers in the room.
The bedding was soft and clean, and they change the sheets once every three days.
Towels can be replaced daily if you request it from housekeeping.
The room had a modern, calm feel.
There was shampoo, conditioner, and body wash,
and that tiny towel at the very top
is apparently for the bidet—so definitely do not use it on your face.
I did wish they had provided slippers for the floor, though.
The water didn’t seem especially hard or chalky to me,
and my hair actually felt soft after washing it.
There weren’t many extra amenities, aside from a shower cap.
The room vibe
First of all, I loved how wide the bed was, and the bedding felt fresh and clean.
The air conditioning was strong and cool too, which I appreciated.
Breakfast
I went down for breakfast around 6:30 AM,
and I was able to eat without any extra check or verification.
I’m guessing it was included in my room rate.
The breakfast was better than I expected.
There were scrambled eggs, whole eggs, sausages, and all kinds of fruit,
plus salads, desserts, and even arancini.
You could order coffee like cappuccino, Americano, or espresso,
and the tiramisu was delicious too.
They also had chocolate milk, drinkable yogurt, and regular yogurt.
There were croissants and pancakes as well.
I’m also sharing a few of the things I grabbed as snacks in between.
I liked that there were plenty of healthier options too.
There actually isn’t much to eat at Fiumicino Airport,
so you end up taking care of most of your meals at the hotel.
The cappuccino was really good,
and I honestly have to ask: why are all the baristas and hotel staff built like models here?
The saying that even random people in Italy are ridiculously good-looking might actually be true.
