An Abu Dhabi tour from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
A luxurious day trip
From Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
to Emirates Palace
Trying to choose a destination for a year-end winter getaway?
How about the United Arab Emirates?
November through April is the best time
to visit Abu Dhabi and Dubai!
This time, let’s look beyond Dubai
with an easy day trip
to nearby Abu Dhabi.
Here’s a luxurious Abu Dhabi itinerary
I’d love to share with you.

When you’re planning a trip to Dubai and the wider UAE,
you might wonder whether Abu Dhabi really deserves
a whole day of your itinerary.
But here’s the thing: if you want to experience the UAE’s incredible grandeur, this is the place to do it.
It’s a different kind of luxury from Dubai’s glittering skyscrapers,
and that contrast makes the trip worthwhile.
In fact, Abu Dhabi is sometimes called“the jewel of the desert.”

My uncle spent years working in Dubai and Abu Dhabi,
so he introduced me to all sorts of places here.
Thanks, Uncle—you’re the best!

Emirates Palace: A Luxury Abu Dhabi Tour Stop
Etihad Towers
The Presidential Palace
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Combine these stops thoughtfully, and you have a luxurious Abu Dhabi itinerary
that fits into a day.
Best of all, plenty of tours depart from Dubai
for a full day in Abu Dhabi.
Even without a rental car,
it’s an easy day trip to arrange.
The options I found offered airport or hotel pickup and drop-off, too.
Each package includes slightly different stops and admissions,
so read the details carefully before booking.

Emirates Palace |

Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi
is one of Abu Dhabi’s most extravagantluxury hotels.
This place is often described as “seven-star”—a nickname for its over-the-top luxury.
Pretty incredible, right?
Its monumental exterior looks like an actual palace,
with symmetrical staircases and Arabian palace-style architecture.
Take a look at the hotel—and its eye-watering rates

Few places capture Abu Dhabi’s luxurious atmosphere
quite like this one.
Think gleaming gold interiors and sprawling palm-filled gardens.
Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi
It feels more like a royal palace than a hotel.
If you’re after the most luxurious stay of your life,
the kind that makes you feel like royalty,
consider spending a night here.

Every corner of the hotel is beautiful.

Even the lobby clock is a Rolex.

At the hotel’s café, Episodes,
you can order a gold-dusted cappuccinofor a little taste of that extravagance.
The café used to be Le Café before it was revamped as Episodes.
It costs AED 90,
which works out to approximately $27, or about ₩34,000, give or take.
That gives you a rough idea of the price.
You don’t have to stay at the hotel to try it;
you can stop in if your tour includes enough free time.
The tour linked below
includes a visit to this café,
so it’s worth a look.

Etihad Towers and the Observation Deck |

Right beside Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi,
you’ll find a cluster of five soaring skyscrapers:
Etihad Towers.
With palaces and a mosque on one side
and sleek high-rises on the other,
the contrast is striking.
The towers were also a filming location
for the Hollywood movie Furious 7.

That’s Emirates Palace you can see over there!
From roughly 300 meters up, you can look down over the Corniche and the Arabian Gulf.
The views stretch beautifully along the waterfront.
If you’re exploring Abu Dhabi independently and have enough time,
I recommend heading up to the observation deck. Here are your options:
I also found a tour that specifically includes observation deck admission.
1. Buy Etihad Towers observation deck tickets
2. View the tour with observation deck admission

This is the kind of view you get from the deck.
Looking down over Abu Dhabi’s Corniche from up here
is a completely different experience from admiring the towers at street level.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque |

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
This place is genuinely breathtaking.
White marble buildings, rows of domes,
long arcades, and reflections shimmering across the water—
and all those sparkling crystals are Swarovski!

It’s beautiful by day and just as lovely at night.
Independent visitors need to reserve an online visitor pass
before arriving.
With a tour, you generally don’t need to arrange that reservation yourself, which makes things easier.
Both men and women need long clothing that covers them down to the ankles,
and women also need a scarf to cover their hair.
The tour options here include
abaya rentals for women—a loose, full-length covering—as part of the package.
That’s another reason a tour can be easier than exploring Abu Dhabi independently.

The mosque’s interior is even more beautiful!

I loved the exterior, but the inside stayed with me most.
Just look at the flowers and trailing vines worked into the marble.
The details are so delicate, they feel like a work of art.

Abu Dhabi Tour or Independent Day Trip from Dubai? |
Abu Dhabi’s major sights are fairly spread out.
If you want to see more than just the mosque—
Etihad Towers,
Qasr Al Watan,
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque,
and the Corniche, for example—
getting between them can be more of a hassle than you’d expect.
And if your hotel is in Dubai,
you’ll need to get to Abu Dhabi and back again.
That’s why I recommend an option with hotel pickup and drop-offwhen choosing your Abu Dhabi tour.
The itineraries vary a little from one operator to another,
so compare the details before you book.
