The first thing that comes to mind when planning a New York trip is always:
when is the cheapest time to book?
When you start planning a trip to New York,
the very first thing you end up checking is flight pricesevery single time.
Unlike nearby destinations like Japan or Southeast Asia, round-trip flights to New York
start from a much higher price point,
so even for the exact same dates,
your total trip cost can change a lot depending on when and where you book.

If you find a deal, it can look something like this…
Even for round-trip Asiana Airlines or Korean Air flights,
this is pretty solid for a nonstop, right?
Seoul to New York round-trip for $965?
If you search well, you can sometimes even find one-way fares
in the $500–$700 range to New York.

5 practical tips for booking cheap flights to New York |
1. Don’t insist on weekend-only flights to New York
Even for the same New York route, changing your departure date by just one day
can make a huge difference in price.
2. If it’s cheaper at dawn on Tuesday, should you buy then?
Looking at recent Google Flights data,
the price difference by booking day is smaller than most people think.
So if you spot a good fare,
instead of thinking, “It’s Saturday now, so I’ll wait until Tuesday to book,”
ask yourself:
is this cheaper than the usual price?
If yes, it’s probably worth booking now.

3. Don’t only search nonstop New York flights—check one-stop options too
If travel time matters most, nonstop is definitely easier,
but one-stop itineraries can be about $20–$30 cheaper,
so it’s worth comparing.
4. Don’t just look at JFK—check EWR too
When flying from Korea to New York, don’t limit yourself to JFK.
Compare EWR (Newark Liberty International Airport) as well.
Not just the airfare,
but also the travel time and transportation cost into Manhattan.
5. If your travel dates aren’t fixed yet, turn on price alerts
If you’re thinking about visiting New York at the end of this year or sometime next year
and your dates aren’t fully locked in yet,
you don’t have to book right away.
On the booking site,
it helps to turn on price tracking for your preferred route.
6. Apply a discount code before you pay
Once you’ve found a flight you like,
make sure to apply the discount code before checkout.
