Taking a night walk in Florence
Strolling through Florence after dark

The view from our hotel in Florence

I saw it all from daytime to sunset, then night, and even early dawn,
and it was absolutely beautiful.
Florence itself is just such a gorgeous city.
It felt so much more relaxed than Rome,

so my parents and younger sibling honestly just wanted to stay at the hotel,
but I dragged everyone out for a Florence night walk.

The backstreets of Florence
have a slightly different vibe from the busy main areas.
They were quieter, with a lot of empty storefronts, so if I’d been alone, I might’ve found it a little intimidating.

Around here, there were places that felt a bit like
Italian street bars, almost like a local version of a pojangmacha (Korean street food tent).
My dad was out front, casually leading the way.

There were bars everywhere,
and people were standing outside all over the neighborhood, sipping wine from their glasses.

After walking a bit farther, we ended up on a luxury shopping street.
But we didn’t actually go with a tour,
so I was a little disappointed that we didn’t really have those “this is exactly what this place is” kinds of explanations.
The tour I originally wanted to book had already sold out,
which was such a shame,
but the night views were still beautiful.

We kept stopping to admire everything, going, “Wow.”

My mom and I
had fun just window-shopping.
My dad kept saying this was exactly why we shouldn’t have come here.
Our feet were hurting, so we stopped right in front of this spot
and took a short break while listening to a busker.
He was playing music from Pirates of the Caribbean,
and I’m still sad I didn’t get a video.

After that, we walked all the way to Ponte Vecchio.
Ponte Vecchio was smaller than I expected,
so my dad was a little underwhelmed, but it was still pretty,
and I’m glad we went to see it.

We passed by this spot too,

and it looked completely different from how it did during the day.

After our evening walk, we came back to the hotel
and my dad and I had gelato together.
One thing I still regret a little is not booking a proper night snap session,
so we could’ve done a more complete night tour and taken better photos
of my parents to keep.
Honestly, this applies whether you’re on a honeymoon or traveling as a couple, and the price even includes the photo shoot.
It was $18,
and I still haven’t gotten over missing it… seriously.
I couldn’t do this tour because it was already sold out,
so you should go for it if you can.

On the way from Florence to Rome,
we also did a Tuscany winery tour.
